The last VSA event of the year will be a cookout co-hosted with FSA. All members
are encouraged to come. During this event, prizes will be awarded to the top 3
members based on their member points.

starting a Vietnamese music ensemble.
No experience would be needed (although preferred).

Road Trip to Ohio State
University Culture Show
VSA will be taking a roadtrip to support our sister organization at Ohio State!
They showed support by coming to our culture night, so we will return the favor.
We will be leaving on the afternoon of Saturday, March 29th, to attend their
culture show and after party. Lodging is provided courtesy of OSU VSA. We will
return Sunday afternoon.
Costs will be providing your own food & drinks and admission into event ($5 with
school ID).

Mr & Miss. Asia Contestants Needed
VSA is looking for a male and female contestant to represent the Vietnamese
Culture at this year's Mr. & Miss. Asia.
Contestants must be willing to practice a mass dance once a week as well as
prepare for the other components of the competition (Cultural Cat-Walk, question
and answer about their culture & organization, and talent show). Whoever are our
representatives will receive full support from us and the e-board will help.
Winners of competition will receive monetary prize as well as title of Mr. &
Miss Asia. If you are interested or have any questions please contact Brandon at
bhtran@indiana.edu by February 1st.
Actual competition is Sunday April 13th at IU Auditorium.

Coffee Hour - Vietnamese Games
Date: Friday, November 30th

This year's coffee hour we are trying something different from the typical
coffee hours topics we have hosted in years past. Past topics included Cultural
Misconceptions, Traditions & Celebrations, & Documentary Showings.
This year's topic is Vietnamese Games. Where the attendees will learn the
history and rules of numerous traditional games from Vietnam and of course play
them with fellow attendees. Of course this event is free, we will also be
serving the traditional Vietnamese coffee.

Place: Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union (map)
The Office of International Services and Union Board will host the IU Worlds
Fare on November 8th, 2007, beginning at 5:00 pm at Alumni Hall. It is the
kick-off for International Education Week. This event is a social and
educational event for the university and Bloomington communities.
The event will open with a musical performance by the African Ensemble.
Twenty-two international groups (including VSA) will represent their
cultures through cultural displays, music/dance performances, and serving
food from their cultures.
There is no charge for admission. Food will be free to IU students with a
valid campus ID, and available at a low price to non-students. This is an
open event, so you may come in at anytime, but keep in mind that the event
will end around 8pm.
We hope to see you all there!!

ACC Sponsored Vietnamese Cooking Demo Recap
Thanks to everyone who came out to our cooking demo. We had a packed house of 40
lovely people who came to learn how to make Bun Thit Nuong and Che. Thanks to
all our volunteers and the wonderful Asian Culture Center who sponsored the
event.

Thanks to everyone who came to our event. We had a

Ngo Quang Truong Memorial Scholarship for Vietnamese
American Undergraduates in the U.S.A
This scholarship was established to honor the memory of
General Ngo Quang Truong whose dedication and military
genius helped prolong liberty in South Vietnam.
This scholarship is designed to inculcate
the following values, symbolized by the life of General
Truong, among young Vietnamese Americans: Love of country,
loyalty, fairness, self-sacrifice, leadership, integrity,
and humility.
Three generous donors from Texas,
Virginia, and another state contributed $500 each towards
this years $1,500 scholarship. One of the three donors
served as an aide to General Truong during the Vietnam War.

Trip to Chicago (IVSU's Mid-Autumn Festival)
Recap
Thanks for everyone who came out to the Chicago Trip! We had lots of fun bonding
through the car ride singing along to songs and getting lost in the city =)
Michigan Avenue was great to shop and walk around; the hotel and night
experience was unforgettable. After eating such great food in Chinatown and
Vietnamese town and catching many of the city sights, we attended IVSU's
Festival. It was great getting to play with kids, but unfortunately we had to
head back to Bloomington before it got to late. Thanks for all eleven
participants who made the trip and hope to see them again at our social night.

Mass Meeting Recap
Thanks to all the people who showed up at our mass meeting! We set a personal
VSA mass meeting record of 63 attendees. VSA has come a long way from being an
itty bitty organization thanks to everyone's help. We would like to thank our
host, the International Center, all the volunteers, all our sponsors, and again
all the attendees. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the pho and made new friends.
