Mass Meeting
Date: Friday, September 29
Time: 7:00-9:00pm
Place: IC, 111 S. Jordan
It was a successful mass meeting. We had great food and the presentation didn't seem to bore the audience so that was a good sign. We would have
liked for more people to show up, but it was a rainy day so about 35 people showed up. Reminder: next time we should check the weather channel before planning an event.
During this event eleven people became members and received our membership card. Our membership card is great, with seventeen participating restaurants and groceries
offering up to 10-15% in discounts. Come join us next time even when it rains, yes? :)

| BBQ Cookout
Date: Saturday, October 14
Time: 1:00-4:00pm
Place: Campus View Field
What great weather!!! I'll be honest and admit that I didn't think that many people would show up but I was wrong. It went smoothly and
was successful for our first member event. A little more than 20 people showed up, which turned out to be a good amount for first BBQ event, even though we had to go out
and buy more food! People also seemed to enjoy the food and little bit of football. Great job guys!

Coffee Hour - Crossing Misconceptions
Date: Friday, October 20
Time: 4:00-6:00pm
Place: IC, 111 S. Jordan
Coffee Hour was a lot of fun. I forgot to post message on Facebook to invite more people to come. But overall I believe we did a petty good job.
When we discussed language barriers, some had experienced language difficulty while others did not. Pizza and snacks went along with Vietnamese coffee, which tasted
absolutely great with condensed milk. We had guest speaker Andy who spoke about his experiences in Vietnam, Poland, and America. In the following open discussion, people
shared their own thoughts and feeling of being a foreigner in a new country and coming back to their own country.
Turnout wasn't too bad but we thought more could have benefited or contributed to the discussion. Keep the good and hard work team!!!

Traditional Vietnamese Wedding
Date: Friday, November 10
Time: 6:00-9:00pm
Place: McNutt Dining Hall
The traditional wedding is our biggest culture celebration for this year. Our members had been
working really hard to prepare this event. We made a lot of double happiness signs and lined the dining hall with lights. The
dining hall as a result looked very lovely and lively. We also had poster board displays containing information about
Vietnamese traditional food, culture, and dress. We had authentic Vietnamese dishes and nice performances too. The
performances are really realistic and enjoyable to me. I liked it a lot. I learned how to do dance a traditional wedding
dance for this event. That was really fun and exciting thing for me.

Spring Mass Meeting
Date: Friday, January 19
Time: 7:00-9:00pm
Place: IC, 111 S. Jordan
Welcome back from winter break everyone!!!
I am really happy with the turnout for the meeting. A few board members have sadly resigned for this semester, but we now
have Greg and John N. who joined our board. Also, we have our T-shirts in now, which are blue and orange colored with map of
Vietnam on the back. I likes a lot it, I hope other members will able to buy it form us!
During the meeting, we talked about VSA's future plan. We saw a lot of new faces. It was really exciting to meet them all. I
am looking forward to see more people at our events and for them to join VSA. Lastly, we provided free pizzas for everyone.
People seemed to really enjoy it. I can't wait to see more VSA events to come

Tet
Date: Saturday Feb. 17
Time: 7:00-9:00pm
Place: Neal Marshall Black Culture Center
Chuc Mung Nam Moi or Happy New Year!!!!!
This year we held the Tet event in the Black Culture Center. It was interesting and an exciting event. About 100 people came,
which was what we were hoping to get. We had traditional three Vietnamese dishes, and they were tasty. People seemed to
really enjoy them.
Thao wrote little skit about a fortune teller and match-making, which was kind of cool. Then I and five other girls performed
a Vietnamese New Years hat and fan dance. It was exciting to me and I am really enjoyed doing it. Brandon and John N.'s
performed a dragon dance, which made me laugh watching their antics. After performances, we ran some traditional Vietnamese
games that a lot people participated in. Also, we had given out prizes for the attendees, some people won the t-shirts and
some people won the gift certificates - they all seemed happy to me.
Cannot wait to see what next event is...

Cooking Demo
Date: Friday Feb. 23
Time: 5:00-6:00pm
Place: Asian Culture Center
The location for the Cooking Demo was at the ACC. A lot of people showed up for this event. I
would like to say that it was a really successful event. Cassie demonstrated how to make Spring Rolls and Pho. It did not
take long for her to make the Spring Rolls and they were easy to make and tasty also. Everyone had their fill and was happy
chatting with each other. We got a lot of great volunteers to help us roll the Spring Rolls.
Yayayay! Once again I learned something new - how to make the Spring Rolls and Vietnamese Pho. The recipes will be posted
online for any one who is interested.
Feedback from everyone was important for us; they say that we should make some more events like this. I feel the same way
too.
I can not wait to see what is next!!!!!
