Okay, I admit the statement was worded poorly-- but you caught it. You must know that while many people believe magnets attract ALL metals, in reality they do not. This is a fairly common misconception. Just by testing a magnet on different metal objects, you can see for yourself it doesn't attract ALL of them. However, without knowing what each metal is composed of, this doesn't help you figure out exactly which metals they do attract. The three metals which magnets attract are iron, cobalt, and nickel. What about steel? Steel contains iron, so it is attracted by magnets.
