For each survey year we checked the institutional affiliation of all of the authors of all of the papers in the four mainstream journals (American Anthropologist, American Ethnologist, Man (later JRAI), and Current Anthropology. We counted an institutional affiliation even if the author was in another department besides anthropology at that University. Below are the top two hot departments for each year we surveyed. In cases of ties, all are listed.
