For each survey year we used the AAA Guide to departments to track down the subdisiplinary affiliations of all the authors who published in the top four journals in sociocultural anthropology. Below are the top two - which give a good indication of the kinds of self-identified affiliations of the people being published in the mainstream journals. Unfortunately the tabulation methods varied quite a bit.
