He was a man who cared so much
(In 1984 Camilla Williams had gone to China at the suggestion of one of the first students she had taught, a young woman from Beijing.)
At my hotel an employee asked me if I was the person from Indiana University. When I said I was, he told me he had a letter for me.
It was from Chancellor Wells, welcoming me to China and wishing me well, because he knew I was a long way from Indiana.
He meant so much to me. I feel like I've lost a dear, dear friend. He was such a great, great person. He always included me in everything. He was a man who cared so much.
There will never be another one.
