Indiana University Bloomington

We will all miss his presence

Roy Samuelsen, Professor Emeritus of Music

I would like to add my accolades to all the others about this remarkable person. I have known Herman B Wells since 1961 and as some of us were discussing in the YMCA locker room the other day, none of us had ever heard anything negative said about him in his long and productive life. When my son, who is a professor at another university, called some time ago and told us they were trying to upgrade and restructure their school, it was natural to suggest they simply pattern themselves after the way President Wells structured Indiana University in the early days. We will all miss his presence at the Musical Arts Center concerts and operas. All of us who knew him have been blessed and uplifted because of him.
