To apply to WEST, please apply to the Indiana University Graduate School and send the following documents with a personal statement to West European Studies:
- Application form
- 3 Letters of Recommendation
- Transcripts
- Personal Statement
- Writing Sample
- GRE scores
- TOEFL scores (for foreign students)
The Graduate School publishes January 15 as application deadline, but WEST functions on rolling admission deadline. However, to be considered for funding, applications must be received by January 15 for fall, September 1 for spring, and January 1 for summer.
Admission Requirements:
- Grade Point: The Graduate School ordinarily requires a 3.0 GPA in the undergraduate major for admission.
- GRE: The Graduate School recommends a minimum score of 600 on one of the three sections of the exam. (The adjustment for the new written exam section scoring system has not yet been determined.)
- TOEFL: The Graduate School requires a minimum score of 213 on the computer-based exam and 550 on the written exam. (The minimum score is 650 to be considered for an Associate Instructor position.)
