Jazz Vocal Reissues II

 This
week on Afterglow we’ll feature more recent
reissues from EMI’s “Great Jazz Vocal Collection”
series, with entries from Dakota Staton (Dynamic!—her
followup to her smash 1958 hit The Late, Late Show),
June Christy (The Intimate Miss Christy—a small-group,
late-night album and one of the last that Christy recorded
for Capitol), and Dinah Shore (Dinah Shore Sings, Andre
Previn Plays— showcasing
Shore in a jazz-piano-trio setting). In addition to these
three jazz-singer gems from the late 1950s and early 1960s,
we’ll have music from Tony Bennett, Chet Baker, Keith
Jarrett, John Hicks, Dave Douglas, and more. This edition
of Afterglow airs Friday, June 29 at 10:05 p.m. EST
on WFIU.
