Jazz Impressions of Showboat
December 28, 2007

This week on Afterglow it's "Jazz Impressions of Showboat," as we pay tribute to the 80th anniversary of the Jerome Kern-Oscar Hammerstein musical's launch with performances from trumpeters Kenny Dorham and Clifford Brown, singers Margaret Whiting and Bing Crosby, drummer Paul Motian, guitarist Jimmy Raney, and many more artists, including Paul Robeson and his showstopping, anthemic rendition of "Ol' Man River." "Jazz Impressions of Showboat" airs Friday, December 28 at 10:05 p.m. on WFIU.

Afterglow airs every Friday evening at 10:05 p.m. EST on WFIU. Broadcasts are made available for listening at any time the following week in the Afterglow archives.
