Women in Business (WIB) is an undergraduate organization dedicated to advancing the success of women within the Kelley School of Business. Formed in 1981, Women in Business was intended to help guide women attending the Kelley School of Business in a better direction. The main objective was, and still is, to inform members of the different career opportunities, current trends, and attitudes that women may experience in the business world.

The benefits of WIB membership fall into three main categories:

Leadership

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Membership in WIB is based on an application and interview process which takes place in the spring for upperclassmen and in the early fall for freshman. Through this process every member is assigned a specific role within the club. WIB’s numerous committees are responsible for planning all WIB events, as well as performing the functional tasks of the organization such as finance and human resources. This structure allows every member to develop their leadership and teamwork skills during their time in WIB.

Professional Development

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WIB members are developed professionally in a variety of ways. Three of the main events are Membership Development meetings, Open Meetings, and the annual WIB Conference. Membership Development meetings give our members a chance to learn about specific topics such as current events in the business world, personal finance, or interview techniques. At Open Meetings WIB invites the entire campus to come and listen to prominent business people speak about their experiences. Finally, the spring conference is a spectacular event that brings professional women from across the country together with undergraduate women studying at schools throughout the Midwest.

Networking

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Networking is one of the most important elements for a successful career in business and it presents many great opportunities for women. WIB utilizes our alumni base, women’s networks in major surrounding cities, and Indiana University’s career center to provide members with some of the best networking opportunities around. Speakers, office visits, networking dinners and alumni events are just a few of the networking events that WIB members take part in each year.
