Welcome
WOW4 is over... AND HERE ARE THE PICTURES!
We
are very pleased to announce the fourth Workshop on the Workshop (WOW4), marking
35 years of inquiry, contestation, and collaboration here at the Workshop in
Political Theory and Policy Analysis. WOW4 comes at a time of transition, with
co-founder Elinor Ostrom stepping down from her administrative position as
co-director of the Workshop to assume the newly created position of "senior
research director." This new position will allow her to focus on research and
graduate training while turning the administrative reins over to long-time
colleagues Michael McGinnis and James Walker, as well as our five-member
advisory board.
This transition is both expected and unfamiliar—we have
been preparing over the last several years to ensure that it goes smoothly, but
at the same time it opens up new and different issues that will have to be
confronted. We are looking at WOW4 as an opportunity to gather input and ideas
and direction from both old and new colleagues, to reflect on where we have been
and look forward to where we are going. We are delighted that Lin will continue
in her extraordinary role as researcher, teacher, and mentor, and are so happy
to be able to discuss and form our plans for the future with some of the people
who know us best.
And we are happy, as always, to hear about all the
interesting and creative ways our colleagues are applying Workshop theories to
the world around us. WOW4 offers an opportunity to reflect on all the things
that we have learned, in a Workshop atmosphere. We hope you can join us for this
special event.
