IUWC Scholarships

The IUWC offers several scholarships ranging from $100 to $500 for the best manuscripts submitted by workshop and class applicants. We offer scholarships for applicants in poetry, fiction and non-fiction, as well as the IUWC Diversity Scholarship, which funds conference participants from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and the IUWC Writers in the Schools scholarship, which was started in 2007 and funds the participation of outstanding writers who teach in our nation's public elementary, middle and high schools.

All scholarship applicants must indicate their desire to compete for scholarship support on their application, and submit a scholarship manuscript (if you are applying for a workshop this can, but need not, duplicate the workshop manuscript). The scholarship manuscript must be one unpublished story or chapter, not to exceed 25 double-spaced pages; or ten single-spaced pages of unpublished poems.

Only the title(s) should appear on your scholarship manuscript. Please submit a separate cover sheet with your contact information: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and the title(s) of your work. All applications must be postmarked by April 15 to be considered for scholarship support.

Scholarship winners will be notified by the end of May.
