YCL publishes scholarly articles on aspects of literature consistent with its mission statement. Manuscripts (generally of twenty to thirty-five double-spaced pages) should be submitted in accordance with the current MLA Style Manual, including parenthetical documentation and a list of works cited.

The author’s name should not appear with the title or on headers, and endnote references to the author should be in the third person. In citing the complete reference in the "Works Cited" section, use the standard format for bibliographies, according to the MLA Handbook. Be sure to include all of the following information: author, full title, series if applicable, translators/editors, place of publication and name of the publisher, year of publication, and page numbers (for journal articles, pieces in anthologies, and book chapters). At the end of the manuscript, type your academic affiliation flush with the right margin.

Submissions can be sent to our offices at Indiana University. Please enclose two copies of the essay, along with return postage. If the submission is accepted, the author will be asked to provide an electronic version.

Submissions will be promptly acknowledged, and the review process normally takes approximately four to six months.
