Exams -

Each exam is worth 50 points and will be made up of 30 points taken from lecture and reading assignments and 20 points listening/music identification. For each listening excerpt (45 seconds to a minute long), you will need to identify the song title.

Make-up exams will be given only to those with a written excuse from the University or doctor. To be excused from an exam due to a death in the family or other family emergency, you must contact the Division of Student Affairs (Franklin Hall 108). They will, in turn, send a letter to all of your instructors explaining your absence. Anyone who qualifies for a makeup should contact Mandy before the next class meeting to arrange a makeup time.

ATTENDANCE -

Attendance is required. Pop quizzes are always a possibility!

LISTENING TO THE MUSIC -

All of the Hendrix CD's needed for the required listening can be found in the William and Gayle Cook Music Library. They can be accessed online from one of the IBM PC computer stations on the first floor or third floor. Headphones are attached to the workstations. From the Program Manager, find "Communications" and double click on it. Next, double click on "Netscape Navigator". Find "Coursr Reserves" on the Music Library's homepage and click once. Here you should be able to locate "Z320 - JIMI HENDRIX". Click once on "Music Library Reserve Recordings". Scroll down to find the CD you desire and click once on "Listen to Online Copy". It may take a couple of minutes to load your selection if it is not yet in the system's memory. Please ask the library staff for more information and/or help. Understand that you will not be able to access the Library's collection from off campus.

OFFICE HOURS & DIRECTIONS -

Office hours are 3:30 to 4:30 Monday and Wednesday. My office is in the basement of the Music Annex (MAB014 - the B stands for basement) which is the round building stuck onto the back of the Music School on 3rd St. You need to enter the round building at the northernmost entrance (farthest away from 3rd St.) and go downstairs. You'll find yourself in a room full of huge bass cases. Go through the double doors and my office is right in front of you.
