Faming Zhang Research Group
Positions
Post-doctoral position
A post-doctoral position is available immediately to study the structure and function of several protein complexes in the obesity protein leptin signal transduction pathway. The approaches include molecular biology, protein expression, and X-ray crystallography. IU has state-of-the-art macromolecular X-ray crystallography facilities including two RAXIS IV + detectors, two X-Stream cryosystems, and regular access to synchrotron beamline at the Advanced Light Source in Berkeley. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in protein crystallography and an interest in structure-based drug design. To apply, send a curriculum vitae, summary of research experience, and the names and contact information for three references to Faming Zhang, Indiana University Bloomington, Department of Chemistry, 800 E. Kirkwood, CHEM A667, Bloomington, IN 47405.
Research Associate position
Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Zhang lab. Research in our lab is focused on structural-based drug design of proteins and peptides related to obesity, diabetes and cancer. Duties will include DNA isolation, PCR, cloning, as well as management of the lab (ordering, maintaining equipments, and coordinating undergraduates). Experience in E.Coli and Baculovirus expression, molecular biology, and protein purification is preferred. BS or BA in Biology or related discipline is required, with laboratory experience beyond the degree desired. Please send email applications (including a cover letter, complete CV, and contact information for three references) to: Faming Zhang, fzhang@indiana.edu.
