Don Caspar (left) with Bill Klug (right) at the 2015 Gordon Conference on Physical Virology. In 1962, Don Caspar, with Sir Aaron Klug, described quasi-equivalence, now a guiding principles for understanding virus structure. Bill wanted a picture of “Caspar with the other Klug”. Bill used a mechanical engineer’s perspective to describe the properties of viruses. Professor William Klug became a victim of gun violence at UCLA on June 1, 2016.
