About

With a Ph.D. in Environmental Health from the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, you'll gain the knowledge and expertise to create a challenging career in the ever-growing field of environmental health—whether you choose to work in academia, industry, or government.

This full-time doctoral program provides opportunities for laboratory or field research in environmental and occupational health, developing critical analytic and technical skills and learning cutting-edge research methods. It requires a minimum of 90 credits beyond the bachelor's degree and provides a solid foundation in the field of public health, focusing on the effects of environmental factors on human health and disease.

In addition to your main coursework, you'll select an area of study outside the field of environmental health as a minor. You'll also take courses in research skills and have the option to take electives (which may be counted toward a second minor). The degree culminates in a dissertation.
