The iStream service provides web-based streaming of classes, lectures, meetings and other events. Live streaming and recording for on-demand access are offered, with a choice of video and audio, or audio-only. Windows Media Player/Silverlight Player or Flash Player is utilized to view or listen to streams. On-demand audio-only files can also be downloaded as an MP3 file and played on personal audio appliances.

Orignally conceived as an automated method of recording videoconferences, iStream has grown to support approximately 12 simultaneous H.323-streaming events at any time plus classrooms in the IUPUI Lecture Hall building and several other IUPUI rooms. Typically only academic classes are listed in the iStream web interface. Meetings and other event URLs are given to the event organizer for distribution.
