The Kinsey Institute Juried Art Show 2014
The Kinsey Institute is now accepting applications from all artists 18 years of age and older who are creating artworks that explore:
sex / gender / sexuality / eroticism / reproduction / romantic relationships
the politics of sex and gender / the human figure
Since 1947 The Kinsey Institute has promoted interdisciplinary research and scholarship in the fields of human sexuality, gender, and reproduction. For our 9th Annual Juried Art Show we are looking for artworks that explore ideas or address topics related to the Institute's mission. Suitable artworks can vary from the erotic to the political; from general statements to deeply personal works about one's own experiences. Artists may submit work for the exhibition online or by mailing the application form with images saved on CD or DVD. Applications must be submitted or postmarked by February 16, 2014.
Open to all artists 18 years and older creating work exploring sex, gender, sexuality, eroticism, reproduction, romantic relationships, and/or the human figure. Entries must be original works in any media including: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, video, sculpture, ceramics, fibers, mixed media, and performance pieces. Proposals for installations may be submitted, but artists are responsible for installing the work and for all expenses involved. Models must 18 years or over, with model release forms provided upon request. Artists should keep in mind they are responsible for the shipping costs to and from the exhibit, and take this into consideration when submitting larger works. Works must be framed and wired for installation (no saw tooth hangers). The jurors reserve the right to disqualify any work that varies from the submitted image including: artworks that are a different size than stated on the application, artworks that do not show the quality represented by the submitted image, and artworks that arrive damaged.
The nonrefundable application fee is $30 for one artwork, $35 for two, and $40 for three. Please limit your submission to three works.
Online submissions may be made here. Images must be JPEG, PNG, or GIF formats and less than 3 MB. If submitting online, video artists should include a link (Vimeo, YouTube, etc.) to their video piece in the artwork description section of the application. Video files cannot be uploaded.
