Apply for positions on some of the many IUSM committees!
These committees fill a variety of vital roles in the School of Medicine. Some are appointed by the Deans Office and involve topics such as student admissions, working with faculty to design and oversee curriculum, and intervening in conflicts between teachers and learners. Others are student-led and appointed by the Medical Student Council; these perform tasks such as coordinating the annual used book sale and planning fantastic events such as Evening of the Arts and St. Vitus dance. For nearly every possible interest, there is a committee with which you can get involved!
Many of these committees are also great for Center students, as all meetings use Polycom and the committee leaders eagerly seek input from the Center campuses.
Many of these positions also only require one meeting a month, making them ideal for students who worry about taking time away from studying.
The committee positions are filled during an annual event called Interview Day, a day of current student committee members interviewing new candidates. This year, Interview Day will be on Saturday, January 30th from 8am to 5pm (breakfast and lunch are provided). Center students can Skype or call-in to their interviews. Once you have applied, more info will be sent out about what to wear, what to bring, and where to show up on the day of the event.
Committee descriptions are listed here:
