Indiana University Bloomington

Congratulations to all of you commissioned through Indiana University’s Army ROTC program!

As you know, we formed an Affiliated Group of the Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA). As a founding board member and President, I wish to welcome you to our new, supportive organization, to explain our purpose and to invite you all to participate at any level.

Our purpose is to promote and advance the interests of the Army ROTC program at Indiana University; to provide Alumni with a convenient focal point to maintain long lasting bonds with the university and each other; to assist in the education of Army ROTC cadets; and to support IU and the IUAA.

We want to hear from you!

As you all know, it is important to stay in touch with IU.  Professional, two-way communication benefits everyone. Many of you belong to School/Department Alumni Organizations and we can offer the IU Army ROTC Alumni Association, all of which are affiliated with the IUAA. Whether you served on Active Duty, in the Guard or in the Reserve, we want to hear from you.

Tell us about yourself and your experience and anything of interest. We may publish it or just put it in the archives, but we want to hear how IU Army ROTC affected your life and the lives of your families and friends. All Veterans and Military Retirees helped win the last wars and we will help win the next wars, by supporting the front lines. Tell us how you can help the Program that gave you your start.

Please tell everyone you know about the Army ROTC Program at IU.

The focus is on leadership of excellence. The Program is great and you can be proud to support it and the Cadets in it. As you know, Army training prepares us for the eventualities of War. It also prepares us for life after the Army. Think about the success you enjoy right now in life and see what you can do help our next generation to progress.

Our Cadets & IU Army ROTC needs you.

I know how much we all owe to the Program and I know how little time we all have to devote to supporting such activities from our past. Herman B Wells said, “It is not what you do that counts. It is what you help others do that makes progress.”

Here are a few ways  you can help:

  • You can provide any level of financial support to the various Military Science Endowment Funds in the IU Foundation.
  • You can help recruit Cadets. Take a High School Senior or a College Student to Bloomington and let the IU Army ROTC Cadets show you and the Student around.
  • Contact the IU Foundation and contribute to one of the Military Science Endowment Funds.
  • You can even start your own Fund; like I did…Jones-Military Science Fund for the benefit of Military Science
  • Or you can help by adding to it or any other Fund at the IU Foundation to support the Cadets.

Thank you for your service and for your support. Let’s all do our part to make a great Program even better.

Go IU!
