Using Sakai 2.8, how do I edit content in the Site Information Display box?

Note: To complete these procedures, you must be assigned a role having the necessary permissions. To determine your role, follow the directions in Participant roles. For a basic understanding of roles and permissions, see Permissions and roles: Overview.

The Site Information Display box is located on a site's home page in the column next to the menubar. You can display either a web page or text in the box; you can also change the size of the box.

On this page:

Adding a web page

To make a web page appear in the Site Information Display box:

  1. In the site you want to edit, if the site's home page is not already open, click Home in the menubar.

  2. In the Site Information Display box, click Options.

Note: Because the title of the Site Information Display box is customizable, the box may be titled something other than "Site Information Display" on your site; however, it will always be located on your site's home page in the column next to the menubar.

  3. In the "Title" field, enter a title for your Site Information Display box, or keep the default or current title.

  4. Use the "Frame Height" drop-down list to set the height for your Site Information Display box. You cannot change the width of the box.

Note: Most web pages display best in a tall box (600 or more pixels).

  5. Under "Site Info URL", type the URL (you may omit the http:// prefix).

  6. Click Update Options.

Note: You may need to refresh your browser to view your new Site Information Display.
