Annie is originally from Austin, Texas and earned her B.A. in Global Studies and Spanish from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. Her research interests include gender, sexuality, race and ethnicity, and social psychology. Previous research has focused on the experiences of female student-athletes of color at predominantly white institutions. She is currently working on two projects. The first, quantitatively examines ethnic fluidity amongst Latinos in the US overtime. The second, qualitatively examines former female Division I college athletes’ disengagement from the college athlete identity, and how race, sexuality, and context inform said process. When she is not actively engaged in her role as a sociology grad student, Annie enjoys playing guitar and partaking in the wonderful world of recreational sports.
