Eric received his BA in Sociology from the University of Missouri in 2009. Following a brief interlude as the coach of the University of Missouri men's rugby team, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he earned his MA in Sociology from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 2012. His master's thesis examined a theory of right-wing social movement emergence using the cases of the Moral Majority and Tea Party movements. Since beginning his doctoral work at IU, Eric has continued exploring research related to the relationship between conservative religious and political groups.
