Kristina Simacek

Kristina Simacek is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at Indiana University, having taken her qualifying examination in medical sociology with a focus on health care organizations. Her master’s paper at Indiana University explored the role of television exposure in stigmatizing attitudes toward persons with mental illness. She has a minor in Social Science Approaches to Health and Healing Systems and obtained a Certificate in the Business of Life Sciences from the Kelley School of Business. Originally from Massachusetts, Simacek holds a BA in Psychology from Wellesley College and an MA in Social Science from the University of Chicago, where she completed a thesis on organizational behavior change in hospitals.

Outside of academia, she has experience in market research, organizational consulting, and clinical trials. She enjoys travel, wine tastings, and spending time with her husband and "huskador" dog.
