Wendy Puquirre is a graduate students in the department of sociology at Indiana University, Bloomington. Prior to moving to IU, she earned her MS in sociology (2015) and her BA in psychology (2013) from the University of California, Merced. Broadly, her research interests are in the sociology of education (higher ed), stratification based on race, class and gender, and methods. Her research agenda focuses mainly on challenging deficit models often used to examine underrepresented students and, instead, examines the different resources disadvantaged youth exploit to further their education in spite of a raced, classed, and gendered education system.
