The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) is excited to return to Canada for the Annual Meeting in 2018! As SSSS continues to grow and welcome members from around the world, we are pleased to host the 2018 meeting in Montreal, Quebec, the cultural capital of Canada. Montreal’s cultural effervescence infuses the city’s nightlife, neighborhoods, and entertainment venues. From historic Old Montréal to the trendy Plateau, there is a lot to explore in this fantastic city. Montreal has a festival for almost everything: jazz, comedy, fireworks, film, theater, fine cuisine, and more. It is considered the city of indulgence as there are more restaurants per capita in Montreal than anywhere else in North America. There will be no shortage of things to do, places to dine, and neighborhoods to explore when breaking from the meeting. Just remember, a passport will be required for non-Canadian residents!

The Annual Meeting will be held at the Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel – a unique, modern hotel located in the heart of the city in close proximity to Bell Centre, the Underground City, the Old Port, and other major Montreal attractions. As we begin our seventh decade of the scientific study of sexuality, we must better understand complicated issues within the field and examine important topics on the horizon. For this reason, the 2018 SSSS Annual Conference theme is “Great Debates and Innovations in Sex Research.”

We are pleased to announce a new presentation format for this year. In addition to the Symposia, Continuing Education, traditional Oral Presentations, and Posters, we will also be inviting submissions for Brief Communications. Brief Communications will be oral presentations limited to five minutes that are intended to give attendees a brief snapshot of a study, idea, or concept, which we hope will ignite discussion and dialogue throughout the meeting. As we’ve done in the past, we continue to welcome Symposia presentations and we were thrilled at the number of these submissions received in 2017. New for 2018 - We will ask everyone submitting symposia abstracts if they are willing to present their work in other formats, should their abstract not be accepted in its entirety, given that we only have space in the program for a limited number of symposia. We look forward to diversifying the ways in which people can disseminate sex science at the 2018 meeting!

At this year’s meeting, we are seeking to showcase the most exciting and cutting-edge sexuality research and practice from educators, clinicians, and researchers alike representing diverse fields. We especially invite work that pushes boundaries, sparks conversation and debate, and inspires critical thinking. We also encourage submissions from all areas of sexuality research, education, and practice, including anthropology, communication, education, natural sciences, medicine, media/film, psychology, public policy, public health, religion, sociology, and other related disciplines. Montreal is calling your name! Please join us at SSSS in 2018! We look forward to receiving your abstracts and hearing you share your innovative work with your colleagues in the sex science community.

The Due date for Abstract submission has passed.
Thank you for your interest!
