The Human Resource Management System (HRMS) contains a variety of information about faculty and staff at Indiana University related to their jobs, personal information (such as address and phone numbers), and benefit related enrollment information. Some of this information requires special care and handling. Inappropriate handling of certain information could result in:
- Criminal or civil penalties
- Identity theft or personal financial loss
- Invasion of privacy, and/or
- Unauthorized access to this type of information by an individual or many individuals.
This tutorial is intended to provide you with an understanding of the types of data contained in HRMS, as well as the proper way to handle, share, and dispose of this information.
At the end of this tutorial, you will be required to agree to your responsibilities as they relate to the use and protection of HRMS data by completing the HRMS Data Use Agreement.
